College of Fine Art

Description:

The Department of Filmmaking in the College of Arts was established in the academic year 2016–2017 and started recruiting students under the guidance of a number of teachers specializing in filmmaking. The first year of study is comprehensive and includes five basic subjects along with the required university courses as a way to introduce students to various fields of filmmaking. The filmmaking department teaches students how to express themselves through moving images and sound. In the department, we foster an environment in which students can become creative practitioners by exploring filmmaking and its possibilities as an expressive medium through inquiry and independent thinking. Students are introduced to self-directed learning, research, and technical skills, contextualize their practice work, engage with different filmmaking approaches from the beginning of their studies, and then develop a different attitude toward filmmaking through factual, fiction, and experimental films. Working across practices, subjects, and roles, students discover their individual strengths in roles such as director, editor, cinematographer, sound designer, producer, and actor.
