Initially the department of Graphic Design established in 2023, by an international cooperative based on a partnership with University of Bremen / Germany, the department cooperates intensively with the mentioned Academy institution to get advantage of involving the foreign professional staff to be in direct communication, training at the University of Sulaimani campus through the academic years of the study, it is worth mentioning the active role of DAAD organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers to support and funding the academic project of stablishing the department in Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Graphic Design visionary approach to art and design education is based on the department conservatory, Graphic design students work within companies and institutions of all kinds, as well as in advertising and design studios, large and small. Graphic designers work on a wide range of projects which includes branding, editorial, interactive, environmental, advertising and information design.
We have the ambition to extend Graphic Design studies to create bridges of communication with other Communication Design fields in all digital humanities departments in Sulaimani university , furthermore a graphic design degree can lead to an interesting and rewarding career.

This is our mission statement and our answer to how art and design impact our modern society, In Graphic Design department, our professional instructors will support you to develop your innovation, through critical thinking, and technical skills to create a competitive portfolio to help you secure the job that you want.
Coursework is divided between classroom and studio time, with an emphasis on student projects, which give the students a direct experience with industry tools and help them build a portfolio. Some programs supplement studio time with internships for additional reality (world experience).
The Department of Graphic Design degree programs provide the students with well foundation in art and design principles (practically and theoretically) across a broad range of media, additionally, because graphic design plays such an important role in our visual culture, graduates with graphic design degrees can follow their interests in any number of directions, from print to digital outputs.
The Bachelor’s programme in Graphic Design is completely taught in English language.
Students usually earn their bachelor’s in graphic design by completing 120 ECTS in a four-year divided into eight semesters (full-time). In addition, the department adopting international standards for evaluating the University Performance through applying Bologna Process criteria.
